Another collection of songs recorded in '87. Too long ago to comment really. Jon and I performed a few of our songs at the Tom Allen Arts Centre in Stratford (East London). I played Bumpkin Blues, Fool a Fool, Velvet Valentine and Kiss Inside That's All. I mostly remember playing the letter in our little 'audition' and enjoying it immensely. It was thrilling to sing as it was so fast and filled with juicy, colourful words and to a very intense rhythm. It's a shame I unwittingly taped over the first verse one day! Jon says he has a copy as well but his tapes are inaccessible for now. So hopefully I will get hold of the whole song at some point. I'd love to have a crack at singing it. No chance of me ever playing stuff like this from memory again though. The song is based on a dream in which a woman who appeared to be mother (in a past life I think) said these poignant, nurturing words to me: 'Kiss inside, that's all.' In other words, one's outer life may be devoid of love but loving ourselves is what matters. No one can take that away from us as we ARE Love.
